The previous article came out in the (randomly generated) newsgroup rec.food.cooking.buck-buck-mcgraw and that makes me think that maybe he would be the mascot of an eponymous chain of chicken restuarants. (“Come in to Buck-Buck McGraw's for the best fried chicken in the tri-state area! Kids eat free on Tuesdays!”)
